    Joe,

Been awhile since my last reply. Thanks for your response. Looked into it more, and I am wondering whether this type of astronomy is the way to go for me.

    Best Wishes,  Dan

I think it's a good idea to keep the conversation here so other folks can see it too. I'd bet there aren't too many people familiar with these three scopes. I'll link to Mile High Astro (or other store) pages for them too since there's some good detail there along with photos.

Hestia: There are no electronics here. It's just a series of lenses and prisms which give your phone camera a 25x optical magnification. Plus a tripod, a solar filter, and a hard case.

Vespera and Stellina: They serve a more similar purpose. There's no eyepiece for visual astronomy. Vaonis has an app for iOS and Android which you use to control the telescope. They're really plug and play with built in autofocus and star charts. You just select your target in the app (or plan a night of imaging) and photos are stacked automatically, so the longer you're able to view a target the better the end result.

Vespera has a small aperture and focal length compared to Stellina, so images won't have as much detail but you'll get good results a lot faster. Astrobin has a lot of good images taken by folks with Stellina and Vespera. Some by me.

    Hello Joe,

I do not know anything about these types of scopes. Are they redundant doing the same type functions? Just a conclusion from their outward appearance. Are they primarily for photography or are they also used for observing?
    Wonder about their age?
Questions from a novice and wondering their value compared to something more tradition like an 8” SC?

I will appreciate your response,  Dan Williams

I've upgraded over the years and never got around to finding a new home for these devices. The Stellina and Vespera are especially nice for outreach / secondary astrophotography telescopes. The Hestia uses your phone camera which makes it really interesting.

Happy to talk about any of them in detail or provide more sample photos. Everything is still in working order. Photos of the scopes and accessories here. I hardly use them anymore and I can't justify storing them forever when they still work great. 303-808-2084
